A quick winter knit and Rare Yarns are on sale

Two quick cowls to knit.
First up a quick cowl (approx. 18cms wide)to knit in beautifully soft alpaca yarn. This cowl is knitted "long" ways and then joined, in Rowan Chunky Alpaca.

You need 2 balls of Rowan Chunky Alpaca and 12mm needles. Cast on 22 stitches.
Rows 1 and 2: Knit 1, Purl 1 to end of row
Rows 3 and 4: Purl 1, Knit 1 to end of row.
Knit until you run out of yarn (leaving enough to cast off and sew seam).
Twist and sew up.
The second cowl is knitted in the round in Debbie Bliss Paloma yarn.
You will need 4 balls of Paloma
for the size in the photo (this is 2 metres long x approx. 15cms wide) or 3 balls to make one 1.5 metres long. Needles: 12mm circular - either 80cms or 100cms.
Cast on 200 stitches for the long version or 150 stitches for the shorter version. Twist once and join to work in the round. Mark the start of the round with a stitch marker of a piece of contrasting yarn.
Rounds 1 and 2: Knit 1, Purl 1 to end of round
Rounds 3 and 4: Purl 1, Knit 1 to end of round.
Repeat these rows approximately 5 times (12 rows in total) leaving enough yarn to cast off - I used about 8 metres to cast off the 200 stitches on the longer version. Cast off loosely. Sew in ends  and enjoy!!

SALE yarns
All our Rare Yarns  - Astrakhan, boucle, brushed and 8 ply alpaca - are now reduced to $5.00 per ball. There is limited stock of some colours and garment quantities in a few colours/types - mainly the undyed and natural colours. "First in best dressed"!

The patterns retail for $20.00 each and include very clear instructions. They are also packaged beautifully. New Shop Sample - Maple by Marie Wallin

Sue has finished a new shop sample. This one is Maple by Marie Wallin and is from Rowan Magazine 50 ($35.00). This pattern celebrates the return of beautiful fairisle patterns - the front and back are fairisle, the sleeves are striped.
The cardigan is knitted in Rowan Felted Tweed ($11.95 per ball), the colours are not quite as bright in real life as they appear in the magazine photos but they still look gorgeous!

There are 5 sizes in the pattern ranging from 32inches/81cms to 50inches/127cms. The smallest size takes 11 balls, the largest takes 16 balls.
Enjoy!
